Welcome to the family Reading!
Yesterday we officially threw open the doors of our 24th Heartwood Inn, The Rising Sun, in a celebration of the local history at one of the oldest pubs in Reading – on a day fittingly sunny!
Helping us to invite in the local community was the Mayor of Reading, Councillor Glenn Dennis, who warmly welcomed guests in a ribbon cutting ceremony at the forefront of our wonderful pub. Guests were entertained throughout the afternoon with stilt walkers who rose to the occasion, a juggler who kept the pins rolling, tastings from local brewers Loddon Brewery and the fantastic Sarah Jane Eveleigh and friends set a serene scene with live jazz. And an edible recreation of our pub’s logo really did take the biscuit!
Drinks were plentiful and spirits were high under the glorious sunshine and decorated pergolas in the transformed garden – formerly a car park – which features a colourful shepherds hut bar and eight elegantly designed and heated dining pods. If you need the perfect spot for al fresco dining this summer, this is it!
A whole host of activities will take place during the Welcome Week to celebrate the opening including live acoustic music in the garden from local acoustic duo, Peared, on Friday 28th June from 6pm and a children’s biscuit decorating workshop on Sunday 30th June from 10.30-11.30am in partnership with The Funky Cookie Company. Both events are free but booking is required for the biscuit workshop here: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/heartwood-inns-brasserieblanc. Head to our blog to find out more about what’s on tap!
Congratulations to The Rising Sun General Manager Ben, Head Chef Ravi and their fabulous team…we’re thrilled to welcome you into the fold!
